october 1st marks a double celebration for us... it was only 2 weeks ago, that we finally breezed through our wedding reception and the chinese tea ceremony... and not to mention, the anniversary celebration of the day i was born...

before
both of us took a week before and after off from work simply for this day... though, preparations started last christmas when we signed up the hotel package... there were still many more last minute details and loose ends to tie, which can only be done with our presence in the pearl of orient... gosh!!! the things to prepare slash my break time to almost nil... wake up time is 6 - 7 am daily... running around getting errands done, buying stuff for the wedding, cleaning all three of our babes became a chore... not only that, we had to allocate a whole day to get our pre-hairdo done...

not to mention splitting ourselves to meet up and accompany all three sides of the family (his side + his mom's family, my dad's family, my mom's family most of the time), what with aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins arriving from all over the globe... these are also the rare few times we get to see them...

one of the bonkers just before the day... i was down with food poisoning... really bad diarrhea and vomiting through the night... all this, no thanks to maetip...

after
directly after the reception dinner, we brought the wine and liquor to the lounge area for a quiet after party... sat there, drink, drunk and chatted till the wee hours... i'd say it was almost dawn too... then it was crashing time on the bed...

woke up just in time for our buffet breakfast, a few hi(s) and hellos with family members and friends who stayed the night there... and then, it was back to dreamland... i was surprised we managed to drag ourselves out of bed, shower, pack up, check out and drove all the way back to his house... entertained chelsea, the caterpillar dog awhile... and we crashed till night, again...

just as well we got our hatyai bags packed before the wedding day... really sounded like it was taken from a chic flick, we actually took off from everything after our wedding for a 3-day-trip across the border... it was a real detox from the crazy schedules back in kl, the nut job run around back in pg, facebook, total internet connection and mobile connection... it slipped our mind to activate our roaming services... and the thai trip, that is another story for another post...

the day
we decided to go away from the norm... firstly, there's no typical wedding photo shoot... we opted for a casual urban war-fare kinda theme... and thanks to JL and JL Photography, he made our choice came true...

then, we did away with the morning tea ceremony... i refused to wake up early in the wee hours to get my face and hair prepped up... hence, we rescheduled it to late evening just before the dinner... that kind of solve part of the "malaysian punctuality" issue... family members came early to drink their "tea" and then proceed to the reception below... no more excuses for traffic jam and such...

the "tea" was also replaced with sweet, red sparkling juice, served in disposable wedding theme paper cups... splashing of water and unhygienic usage of tea cups averted, yesh!!!

the reception started off with normal love songs and looping video of photographs of our many, many firsts together... first family visits, first trips and outings, first race, first dog, first adoption, first fostering job, his proposal, etc...

as the dinner kicked off, the tunes were changed to an hour of weird song choices... from possible love songs -- really heart breaking songs -- devastating songs -- happy tunes -- and back to matrimonial songs... what the guests were not told, was that the songs depicted our lives together from a decade ago till the day we decided to get married...

01 - Tease Me
02 - Something about Us
03 - Forever
04 - Sempurna
05 - Dont Go Away
06 - It Ends Tonight
07 - Gone
08 - Bittersweet Symphony
09 - Drops of Jupiter
10 - Nobody Knows
11 - Lips of an Angel
12 - Iris
13 - The Reason
14 - Love Story
15 - I Wanna Grow Old with You
16 - I Do

it didnt end there... the songs didnt go back to normalcy... there were instrumental linkin park tunes playing in the background through the toasting and my birthday cake cutting (in celebration with my birthday)...

and proceeded with dubstep songs till the end of the night... just as the night wrapped up and the guests were leaving, it was then only love songs were back on the track... that's just our way of showing the world who we really are... and to share that piece of our lives with them... adaptation and personalization to the culture, in a way we conformed to what everyone does to the typical weddings...
