Virgin Tuk Tuk Trip

days before our wedding ceremony, we signed up for a trip to hatyai... just the two of us... without the mom and mom in law... it wasnt exactly a honeymoon... just a simple trip to get away from everything... from work... from parents... from the babes (and apparently a boy, then too)... we needed the break from all the pressure... okok, more like i needed a break from the clinging family and pups... from the stress at work... a break in the scenery too...

it worked out pretty well... i forgot to activate our roaming services before we went off for the trip... hence, a totally clean break from malaysia... not exactly a bad thing... no phone calls, no facebook, no emails... just us...

anyway, two days after our wedding ceremony... both of us woke up freaking early in the morning, to catch our van into thailand... i refuse to tire myself with a long drive... and the van trip cost only about 60 - 70 bux per pax for a round trip... not very costly, considering the wear and tear of my car with fuel and toll, should i decide to drive in... 3 days 2 nights... of p...e...a...c...e... and shopping... and FOOD, of course...

just as we reached the border... i'm impressed to see how interested he was with the new environment... imagine, lack of sleep... and he still managed to pry his eyes open to stare left, right and front of the van while the driver drove us into the heart of the city... we actually reached the hotel pretty early in the morning... too early, i'd say... cos the rooms were are not ready for check in... he was wary to leave the luggage with the concierge, but i managed to persuade him... and we start our walking journey...

good thing we brought his hydration pack along... surprisingly, he walked A LOT without complains... he just happily struts along... hydration pack ROCKS!!! we kinda walked pretty far out... we started off walking from one end of the hotel out to the city... and ended up walking back to the hotel from another end of it... when we traced back from the top floor of the hotel looking down at the city... we covered a REALLY HUGE area!!!

being there was like a heaven for both of us... i got to shop till i literally drop... he got to appreciate the vehicles that zoom in and out of roads... not to mention added a few blings to his knife collection... and the food was AMAZING... we stuffed ourselves silly every other hour... there wasnt a time where i can say i was hungry... it was always full, stuffed, full and stuffed...

plus... the dogs there were awesome... as we were crossing the road, a bike zoomed past us and turned into our direction... as we stopped to let the bike pass, we were dumbfounded with what we saw sitting as the pillion rider... an adult dog without any harnesses... just sitting there like how a human would... and without holding on to the rider... the most amazing thing was, the dog was helping the rider... holding a pail full of stuff with its mouth... really, i salute the dog and the rider for the great training...

for the 3 days we were there... we came across same stalls that were shifting around the town area... but there was this one stall... wherever the stall was, there would be a dog hovering around... it just had a collar and NO leash... but it never go far away from the stall owner... how cool is that???

then, there was a reception dog... we went into some random coffee shop to pack our dinner, where the owner only knows thai... a dog greeted us, sniffing us down and then licked us... before allowing us into the shop... really good guard dog...

just blogging out all this... i cant wait to go back thailand... bangkok with DL, the next trip???
