Let's make Lemonade

just as i thought everything had settled down... and the babes finally adapted to their new environment... i'd been presented with more lemons to handle... not exactly the worst news of the decade... more of like a thorn at your sides... manageable, with a slight irritation...

with our first dog, noodles... she has always been quite a handful... too smart for her own good, high IQ and extremely energetic... not a great first dog for any first timers... she drove me bonkers for more than half a year... i was losing my mind over this tiny, misunderstood creature...  she was notty, yet that was her way of getting our attention... chewing off my furniture, destroying everything in her path...  as it turned out, she was just bored outta her mind... we had recently found out that all she needed was some puzzle toys to stimulate her mind... and of course, to keep her busy... other than her insane attitude and disregards over authority figure, her problems would probably just lies on her floppy ears... having floppy ears made her susceptible to ear infections...

now, starbucks, on the other hand has the worst defects any dog owners would ever asked for... born with atresia ani, or in layman terms born without an anus, she has very minor difficulties with defecating on a daily basis... almost everyday, i'd be spending time expressing her feces from her vulva... especially so, if the poop is too hard, too big or too soft... as hard as it is, she is a miracle in our lives... you rarely can find any dogs surviving the odds of atresia ani... and i will never give her up for anything... physically defected, she's still the most perfect dog i have ever had the opportunity to chance upon...

in the recent months, moo-cow the latest of the gals, had been scratching herself and biting her fur off... to the point that she had and still has one humongous and one small bald spots on her body... initially, we thought with ample of antiseptic creams and acriflavine, her fur will re-grow... a month later, and nothing seems to work... not even anti fungal cream... since it was a public holiday at that time, we brought her to alternative vet nearer to our house... we had the unfortunate luck to have met a very lousy vet... this vet prescribed antibiotic without even taking a closer look at moo-cow and stood 2 feet away throughout her expensive consultation... so two weeks later, after completing the whole course of antibiotic without any improvements, we went again to our usual vet... within two minutes, we were all being shown the demodex mites under the microscope... with demodex, we had to be extra careful with what we give her... the sad part was she was born with this immune deficiency... hopefully, just hopefully, we'll be able to manage her condition well...

even as i was typing this, none of them could be bothered with their symptoms and conditions... they are still running around in circles, making me dizzy... playing catch with each other and occupying their time with the new kong IQ toy... i'm only looking forward to 11pm... it is usually at this time, that they will mellow down and start feeling groggy from sleepiness... and it is then, they are the sweetest dogs one could ever asked for...

this post is to them,
noodles, starbucks and moo-cow...
