Of Handiworks, Of Meatworks

ever since i've been back in his arms, i've stressed for the umpteenth time the importance of an effort well spent present in comparison to a cash bought item... well, that's my philosophy anyway... unfortunately for me, the things he craves for are usually things that i cant make myself... presents that needed to be bought off the shelves or custom-modified to perfection...

the first major handiwork he did was a beaker of hearts with a wooden stand... putting so much thoughts and efforts into making it so meaningful... that's an art i will always treasure... on valentine's morning, as i was getting ready to leave home for work... i found him half awake, grinning sheepishly... all he spoke that morning was an almost inaudible whisper of "surprise"... really, i had no idea what he was speaking of...

as i walked down to peep at my babes, i saw this beautiful valentine's greeting signage on the dining counter... it was held up with handmade metal roses... along with the signage, he left me a handmade metal heart shaped keychain... it was CRAZY!!! the metal was tough, and it was not made of only a string of metal... but stringSSS meshed together... you'd think it was nuts to string them all together... it was crazier to shape them...

since we were both declaring 3 days holiday thereafter, i decided to stay up - with babes accompanying me - eagerly waiting to give him a birthday hug... just before he gets home, a cheeky card and a wrapped up present awaited him... whether he loves the present, let's just say he was cam-whoring with it sling across his wrist...

adding to the merriment was starbucks throwing a birthday party for her sisters... or more like i was spoiling them with good food, as a celebration of her birth to this world... two huge chunks of chicky breast meat for each of them... topped it with raw bones as appetizers and yogurt for desserts... try that if you are looking to spoil your dogs silly... my babes sniffed them food up in minutes!!! even licked the bowls squeaky clean...

at the pretenses of a simple, back to basics birthday celebration... i took him out for a road side rojak sotong for lunch... dont get me wrong... it wasnt about being cheap on expenditure... the food was great... it had been years since i last brought him there... the place definitely cooked up some memories... those few places that i introduced to him while we were sneaking around to date...

knowing that he appreciates good steak, i decided to make some arrangement at a new place... a restaurant that specializes in simply meat and steaks... and i still take pride in my ability to bring him to new places every time for special celebrations... 3 years now, and it's still a bull's eye at the target for me... yay!!!

there's only a handful of eateries that can cook his steak rare to perfection... previously, he insisted on angus steak house on an annual basis... refusing to give in to this, i was at a quest to find him some where else that can do just that... now, meatworks is his favorite... not only was the steak grilled to his standard of perfection, it was really affordable... meatworks even caters to smaller portion steaks, for small eaters like me...

his 350gm  striploin steak - RARE

my 100gm junior steak - medium rare... the portion is just nice for me to really enjoy the exquisite taste
new york cheesecake, as the replacement of his pathetic annual self bought cupcakes that he gotta buy prior to us getting back together

as i'm typing out this post, he is blissfully asleep... taking his much needed nap for our backpacking adventure tonight...

honey, i hope you enjoyed your birthday celebration as much i did arranging for it... =)
