Weekend Escapade to the Pearl of Orient

slightly less than two weeks after we got back from penang, last saturday started early with our bus trip back to the island again... another wedding, a different couple, a different venue... hastily packing up our babes and our bags the night before the trip, we rushed them off to their newly appointed godparents for a 3D3N stay at the 5 star kepong resort... we reached just in time for a pee and poop (LOTSA POOP) break by my dearly missed leg warmers... and a dinner by the owners of the resort... didnt i just mentioned it was a 5 star resort???

a morning earlier than my usual working hours, we drove out to the aeroline office for our check in... too early to check in (office was still closed when we got there), we walked around moving from one place to another hunting for breakfast... ming tein - only drinks are served; mcd - closed; kfc - closed; starbucks - closed... had to settle for a quick mamak, which sadly seemed to be the only restaurant opened at that hour... planning for a good rest and sleep on the bus was just a futile attempt... with on board entertainment, i ended up staring at 2 movies instead... and then yawned throughout the day, trying to keep myself awake...

meeting up with DL when we hit the island roads didnt work out... with last minute changes, he flew off to US earlier than expected... with a promise for fridge magnets as a penalty for the rain check... with that aside, we learnt a great lesson... dont ever attempt a cab ride if you're on a budget (good thing was we were not this time around)... a quick ride to the ferringhi hotel from queensbay cost us an approximately 60 bux... it was even more expensive than renting a bike around town...

checking in to the bayview beach resort was a surprise to us... a free upgrade to deluxe seaview at the standard room charges... it was only later that i realized our room was the bridal suite... the bride and groom released their bridal suite so that we could get a room in the hotel... i was flabbergasted!!! touched and happy at the kind gesture... and lucky too... if they had not done that, we would not have been able to secure any rooms near the resort... hotels in the vicinity were fully booked... especially so, when the "where's the party?" event was happening on the same weekend in hard rock cafe...

killing two birds with one stone, we went back to penang for the wedding and his lorong kulit outing... not wanting to hail another cab, we rented a zippy scooter to mobilise ourselves... riding through town was just fun... stopping by places of memories, tourist areas, skipping the jams... and oh, not forgetting the raindrops and wind on our faces... though, the rides around the island (half island, to be exact) left us both with sore and numb butts... it was definitely something we should do more often, if our schedule permits...

this trip over the weekend was also a very gastronomically overload adventure... we had breakfast, then lunch in the bus, tea break of mee sotong, the 8 course wedding dinner and then his fried carrot cake & fried oysters for supper... barely having the time to digest the food, we woke up early for a buffet breakfast... i was glad that mom and dad managed to find time to drive out and meet us up at the hotel... to spend time with us and drive us around before the boarding to the slow poke convenient way to fly...

thinking to treat my parents some good food before we leave, it was a great lesson to me to practice the art of getting my wallet out faster... instead of treating them to the briyani rice, i lost that battle... BUT, i did make up to them for a starbucks coffee... it was still unclear to me whether they really did enjoy the frappe...

now, sitting in front of my work pc... all i can think of is yummy dinner as a treat to my babes' godparents tonight... and to open my arms wide for a great welcome by my gals...
