Of Goodbyes, Of Candles, Of Toasting

tuesday, oct 23
having served two years in my first partnership firm, i finally bade my farewell... yes, for the second time and planning to stick to my decision thus far... it was harder for me this time around, as there were more people to say goodbye to... i went through a roller coaster wave of a feeling just as i signed off my clearance form... there were worries, anxiousness, excitement... worried and anxious about the new place... it will be something different and new... i wondered how i will fare through... and excitement for the new phase in my life... and also the excitement for the one week work-holiday that was coming the day after...

but first, we had to send our 3 monsters to their designated IK&YM doggie hotel... hmmmm, should i just appoint them to be my babes' godparents??? anyway, reaching home after braving through the traffic... i quickly freshen myself up and then with the help of my loving muscle-man, we bundled the gals in the car with their daily necessities for the whole week... our plan was to leave all three gals at the doggie hotel... yeah, you heard right... that was our fantastic PLAN... unfortunately, my heart melted with bucky's google eyes... and i took her home...

wednesday, oct 24
another of our awesome PLAN was to leave the house by 10am... *eyes rolling* we woke up at 10am instead... after some worming and last minute packing... we finally managed to leave the house two half hours later... with bucky on my lap, i drove us home in my tiny myvi pickup truck... arriving at the island four hours later, we rushed over to visit our new niece, baby evelyn... or, fondly known by AY as his new "ah girl"... poor baby, though... she's gonna be stuck with that pet name for a long, long time... it was a worthwhile time spent chit chatting with sis in law, poking and kiddy talk with evan...

then, the mad rush to beat the penang bridge jam home to butterworth... having made plans with dad to celebrate his birthday that night, it was a by hook or by crook gotta reach the other end of the bridge by dinner time rush... phew~ glad we made it through... we reached home just as mom and dad got back from work... after a long time of seafood hiatus, that night was sort of fulfilling, minus the crabs for him...

we were starving, hence there was only a photo of the receipt after we filled our tummies...

for the amount of food we ordered, with a headcount of 6 pax... and then the comparisons with the price in kl... it was quite cheap for us... thanks, mom for the double birthday treats for dad and i... =)
food count: rest stop malay food; angie's homemade bread; 323 seafood
thursday, oct 25
mom's specific instruction was to represent her in the prayers for grandpa's death anniversary... my cousin, TK and family reached my uncle's place just as we drove to the front of the shop... immediately after, we went upstairs for the prayers and hit the road with TK again for pg style breakfast at the morning market... ooooo~ any food in some random place is way much better than the food we usually eat in kl... mind you, this was at 11am... in another hour, we were looking at another food galore cooked up by my aunt... too bad, it wasnt to AY's liking... oh well~

although it was a bad idea to have a facial two days before a wedding dinner, my face had so much breakout i couldnt stand it anymore... it was like a to hell with everything else, i need to get my face cleaned thoroughly... while waiting for me, AY took the wyvi for a much needed wash... who knows if DL was going to need my car for his wedding, we'd better be prepped with a clean 4 wheels... and finally after almost a year of dodging the hair salon, i had my hair cut on that day too... i think it was like my facial regime... get my face darn red with the pinching and scraping, then walk in to the hair salon... apparently, i did that quite often...
food count: jawa mee; lor mee; pg style chee cheong fun; aunt's cooking; brown sugar ban chang kuey; pork floss ban chang kuey
friday, oct 26
not wanting to risk getting caught in the jam (although it was a public holiday), we rolled out from home pretty early... i'd say much earlier that going to work... see what i mean when i always say going back to pg is more hectic than having a holiday in kl... anyway, reaching the island earlier than expected, AY grabbed the opportunity to fill his tummy with pg food...

while waiting for DL and ES to reach the wesley church, we (or more like ME) made a fool of ourselves in front of DL's worship leader... it's been awhile since we sit around and having fun under the morning sun in some sort of a garden / playground... the last was when we were still dating... and also, this was my sort of distressing moments before the full fledge wedding coordinator work fell on my lap...

looking at DL's plan and cue sheet, all of us (DL, ES, AY, AL, worship leader and the pastor included) had long and hard discussions with last minute changes to the original plan... throwing in ideas, giving DL what he wanted, showing him options... we scraped and re-planned... plus that ES was so stressed out AND knowing that AY's not that great with minor details, i rolled up my sleeve and got dirty on the nitty gritty details... the last day planning continued way after the rehearsal wedding through past midnight... last minute movie making, seating arrangements, registration planning and the list goes on... all this while AY was busy recuperating from food poisoning and the huge cut on his finger (while putting up DL's wedding photo frame)...

and in between all this, we still managed to squeeze in some time to visit a friend in GMC... just days after PN's surgery to remove a humongous cyst from her ovary, i think it was a much needed boost for her morale to have someone from kl to visit...
food count: hokkien mee, half boiled eggs, toast, lor mee, mei lee seafood
saturday, oct 27
DL's big day!!! waking up early to get prepped, it was so unfortunate that i had to endure a cold bath as someone had tripped DL's water heater the night before... by the time all of us reached the church, we were running at full speed to get everything into place... from the full fledge church wedding, to the tea ceremony and finally the humongous attendees wedding dinner...  and the make ups, the driving, the much needed nap in between all the major events...

it was nice of DL and ES to be able to place so much faith in me to be able to pick up their plannings in hours and then allow me run the whole show for them in the background... oh, by the time we were done for the day, it was almost midnight... and all of us were almost dead beat... so tired from the whole day of running around, not to mention the prep from the day before, all of us just crashed the minute we hit ground at DL's home...

congrats, DL and ES... both of us are so happy for you...
in fact, i think AY was more nervous and excited than the groom himself...
food count: DL's thick milo, church wedding catering, wedding dinner
sunday, oct 28
waking up early, still yawning away, we packed up our stuff and headed out to lorong kulit (initially planned as a date with his mom)... one, DL and ES had to attend the morning mass... two, AY must have his trip to the skin lane... while i was struggling to keep up with his eagerness (of grogginess from the lack of sleep), he strutted around filled with energy mazing through the sea of people and his version of funky stuff...

that sunday was booked as AY's day... his shopping time for torches, car parts and then some... and his fulfilment of crabs... it was also supposedly his time spent with his mom for dinner... too bad she had other plans in the island... so scrapped that, we headed out ourselves for his crab cravings... not forgetting, the abalone and spare ribs from DL's second wedding dinner that night...

apart from all the good yummy stuff, we also had to stick around to help dad with his failed gear lock... the lock mechanism was jammed... one thing i gotta give to proton, they did a magnificent job in designing the gear lock...
food count: DL's thick milo, nasi lemak, 323 seafood, starview dinner
monday, oct 29
finally, our breakfast date with AY's mom came true... sadly, being a monday, most restaurants and good food that we wanted to go for were closed... luckily, we managed to get something to elevate AY's grumpiness of not having enough pg food...

beaten from the hectic schedule, we crashed for a while before heading back to kl and to pick up my missed mutts... i think bucky sort of regretted following us back to pg... all she get to do is spend her time in the crate while we were buzzing through our timetable... luckily, her grandparents spared her some time, of course with complains here and there...
food count: lousy dim sum, roasted duck, bee tai bak, kl's ktz ... and the food count ends here...
tuesday, oct 30
ohhh, thinking i will at least have a two day break wasnt happening anytime soon... by the time i was done catching up with my much needed rest, i had a call from SL... the mom of his gf passed away suddenly, and he needed a doggie hotel help for princess bobby... thinking it would be a nightmare transporting a dog by myself, princess bobby was actually a pretty smart dog... he volunteered himself in unlocked crate at the back seat, minding his business without disturbing me drive... he was such a dear... although AY wasnt that keen on his peeing habit and his whining while with us... oh, did i mention AY and princess bobby had a peeing contest??? one with his concentrated pee, another with a spray bottle of dettol... madness!!!

wednesday, oct 31
my very last day of the sort of short long break... the only day i managed to squeeze in a lunch with lypor for his so, so belated congratulatory graduation get together... although he graduated with a doctorate on my birthday, it was on the very last day of the same month that i'd only managed to have a bite with him... apparently, he commented that i would only usually meet up with him in between jobs... hmmm, you think so???

from a treat of lunch by me, he treated me to an eastin lunch instead...

and there goes my holiday of sorts... >.<
