this year's countdown celebration was slightly different... it was mom and dad's first countdown experience with us... they used to spend the transition to new year at home sleeping and cursing at the fireworks... this time around, it was their time to party... not to any normal street party or clubs, though... we took them to a family event of sorts kinda countdown...
thanks to suggestion from my cousin (she kinda works there, anyway)... we headed on to publika in time for dinner and countdown... not before we had our share of shopping in 1U...
food talk... first stop in publika, eat village... being the uncreative person they are... mom, dad and AY all ordered fried kuey teow... =.=""" not that i was very creative myself, i jumped at the opportunity to eat the kin kin pan mee... with the move to our new home, we're now FAR FAR away from the "cuisine"... initial impression was that the food was pretty pricey... reality, portion were humongous... they were actually pretty good... even the dumpling from ah yip herbal house was good... and then there was chatime for me... you cant go wrong with that...
do take note though... the food is fast selling on a daily basis... the eat village food court closes by 8.30pm or so... usually by then, most traders would have sold off their food supplies for the day...
as we walked around the mall, we stumbled across interesting art works on displayed... i'm not very artsy, but it is interesting enough to capture our attention... interesting enough for us to whipped out our cameras... to say the mall has a sort of giza environment with a twist... comprises of both indoor and outdoor... ahhh... hard to describe... you'll need to drop by to see it yourself...
while waiting for the 10 second countdown and fireworks, we made ourselves vip spots in the middle of the square... there were concerts, performances for the olds... and bike exhibition to keep AY occupy... dad looked like he was dying of boredom... mom showed lack of interest... partly cos the band were playing the few latest songs and the echo drowned out all the words... all we heard is bass, drum, guitar and mumbling... bad setup but pretty fun nonetheless... it took some time to coax her to enjoy herself...
by the time the sky went boom, boom, boom... she was dancing away with me... proud moment, i had her dancing on video... lol~
