that weekend itself, we celebrated my birthday... unfortunately this year, work had been pretty hectic and i couldnt take any leave... and refusing to have a fancy celebration outside, i made him promise to cook me dinner... a candle light dinner at home, with some background sound of dogs singing (errrr, howling and barking, more likely)... he cooked up a storm of steak and shepherd’s pie... even got me a quaint, little cake from free mori...
weeks ago, his best friend asked for my office address, with the excuse that he needed my help to receive a parcel on his behalf... yeah, right!!! it's pretty absurd cos AY has been getting his parcels delivered to his own office... btw, his best friend is currently working for him... so, it's pretty obvious that AY had something up his sleeve again... anyway, fast forward to the day of my birthday... AY told me he was not feeling well, so i got ready for work myself... i went to work a little disappointed cos he actually forgot to wish me the night before and the morning as i leave the house... :(
what i didnt know was he had planned to drop by my office for a surprise lunch... slightly after he arrived and waited for me at the lobby of my office, a bouquet of flowers was delivered to my office (i was already expecting this... he sorta leaked it out... XP)... cos my boss had to talk so much and refused to let me off, he had to wait for me for some time... we had a quiet, late lunch at a very nice restaurant... very affordable, yet it was amazingly good...
just as it was time to leave the office, the boss called us for a meeting (yet again after hours)... by the time i was done, it was already pretty late in the evening... almost 8, i think... grumpily, i went to the basement car park to collect my car and to meet him up in 1u for dinner... and i had a pleasant surprise from my colleagues... they had the word "happy birthday" printed out, each letter separately on a piece of a4 paper... and then~~~ stuck them on my car windshield... i actually smiled like an idiot in the car park...
since i had free cash vouchers from chaswood group, i decided that we should go to TGIF for dinner... first time ever, we ordered only one main course to share... definitely a smart choice... we could barely finish our dinner and walk straight out after that... really, minus the work bit, i really had a lot of fun this year... my very first time getting surprises from AY and my friends without me managing to crack the puzzle beforehand...
