it would have seem that ever since AY's accident, i'd been in and out of the hospitals... so frequently, that i could probably call these places my second home... initially, it was just running in and out of hospital while he was still being warded... from one night admittance, to two nights... then, it was follow up visit two weeks later... and a month later, another follow up visit, to check on the progress of his fracture... this time, i'd say that the columbia asia orthopaedic doctor hadnt been doing his job well... if you're given a choice, please please do not have him to look into your case... with his very bad "expert" opinion, AY was supposed to undergo a very expensive surgery to correct the fracture...
without a medical insurance, we had no choice but to request for a referral to public hospitals... UMMC was my choice... wasted two days there, trying to get appointment... even then, having consulted the surgeon in UMMC was a total waste of time too... we ended up registering him to the UMSC, the private wing of UM hospital... just as well we went for a second opinion... no surgery was needed... just more time for his hand to be in a cast to help with the healing... and perhaps, expensive follow up visits to the UMSC surgeon for proper consultation and better handiwork on the cast...
not long later, it was my turn... *eyes rolling* what kinda luck am i having this year??? spent half a day in assunta hospital for a pre-employment medical check-up... nothing bad about that, just dislike the pricking of the needle...
well, the second visit is not something i've told many people... probably, a handful of very close friends... and colleagues, so that they can give me the rest i needed... about five years ago, i found an almost invincible lump in my breast... unfortunately, i'd come to realise that it had grown slightly bigger... since i'm already in the plans to leave my current job, i thought, hey why not quickly utilise the provided medical insurance now...
with that decision, i arranged to have myself admitted for a day surgery... although i hope to go to better hospitals, columbia asia would have suffice... what with the location near home and all... as expected, i requested for a general anaesthesia (i'm not exactly very fond of pain)... although it took away the pain from me, the side effects wasnt all that great... nauseous, vomiting, loss of appetite, severe itchiness... but i supposed, if given a choice, i'd still take general anaesthesia all over again...
good news for me, everything went well... the surgeon concluded that the wound is healing pretty well, no pus, no infection... and most importantly, it's a benign lump... :) *happy dance*
the day after my surgery, we went for a follow up visit for AY's hand... not the best news, but at least he no longer require surgery... new bone is growing over his fracture... one more month in the cast, and he's gonna be good to go... last check-up eta: 12th nov... looking forward to smelly-free hand from him...
